St. Joachim is in need of someone to
clear the walkways of snow and spread snowmelt in winter, and someone to mow
the grass and the trimming in the summer. If anyone is interested please
contact John Smurkoski, Fr. Peter or the Parish Office right away.
At this time we would like to extend a heartfelt and great big THANK YOU to John Smurkoski and Bob Brostoski for their many years of generous grounds keeping service. Job well done faithful servants!
Fr. Peter is celebrating his 67th birthday this December 2nd. He would like to celebrate it with all his parishioners and friends. The entire parish is invited following the 11:00 am Mass beginning at 12 noon on December 2 to share a meal with him. No gifts are
necessary, in, fact he says no gifts. Just come and enjoy each other’s company.
That same afternoon is the Deanery Advent Penance Service at St. Mary’s at 2:00pm. So come and enjoy a great meal and why not stay for the Penance
Service? See you there!
Everyone is invited to a Christmas celebration sponsored by the Altar & Rosary and Holy Name societies of St. Joachim’s at the church hall in Meshoppen on Sunday, December 9. There will be food, dancing and children’s activities. More details in next week’s bulletin

“I pray for and to the Poor Souls in
Purgatory. I help them and they help me. When I need to get up at a specific
time, I ask them to wake me up. It works, they help me.”
CCD students at St. Mary’s will be
collecting canned food and non-perishable items for donation to the Helping
Hands Food Pantry in Wyalusing as part of their Advent service project.
Especially needed are Chunky Soups, Pancake Mix and Intstant Oatmeal packets.
Collection boxes have been placed in the back of the church as well as in the
Parish Hall. Items will be collected until December 2. Any and all
donations are greatly appreciated by the students. Thank you!
The Giving Tree at St. Mary’s will
go up on the weekend of November 17th and November 18th. Many
parishioners ask that the tags are up prior to Black Friday. This year we
will be supporting Wyalusing Area School District families, the Helping Hands
Food Pantry and the Endless Mountains Pregnancy Care Center (with kids for kids
tags). In an effort to try to keep all gifts for each member of the
family equal, we ask that you just fulfill the request on the given tag.
Please wrap your gift and put the tag on the outside of the gift, and please
return to St. Mary’s by December 8th and 9th. If you would like someone
from Ministry of Mercy to help you shop for gifts, donations would be
gratefully accepted. Please see Leona Fitzgerald (570-746-3076) or
Marilyn Burke (570-746-1280).
